Who are we?
We’re Eric and Mike. We’ve been DJ-ing professionally at weddings for the past five years. In fact, this month marks our 5-year anniversary working with couples to make the best day of their lives unforgettable. We’ve done, on average, about 30 weddings per year, and have won The Knot’s “Best of Weddings” for our wedding DJ services for the past three years (2012, 2013, 2014). We typically work weddings in the Central PA area under the name ProVolve Entertainment – but this is a totally separate venture to help out the couples that we wouldn’t normally get the chance to work with.
It doesn’t happen often, but sometimes couples choose not to book with us because they can’t afford a pro-level wedding DJ. They opt to try to do the music themselves because they have to; they simply don’t have the funds, and would rather put the money into something like photography or flowers than the proper soundtrack for their big day.
We totally understand. Every couple gets to decide what’s important to them at their reception. Thing is, Eric and I are music lovers, and it bothers us to think that every weekend, there’s a wedding taking place somewhere that’s being run off an iPod on shuffle mode. We’ve poured our blood, sweat, and tears into creating the ultimate dance parties at weddings, and are to the point that we feel like we know what works and what doesn’t for *most* weddings.
To mark our 5-year anniversary, we wanted to create a resource that:
- Helped couples get the same level of planning, timeline building, agenda resources that our couples do
- Helped couples get unforgettable music, regardless of what styles they might be into. We’ve done it all!
- Any couple could afford.
DIY Reception helps even the most technically challenged couple get ready for the big day, from start to finish.
If you Google ‘iPod Wedding’, you’re going to find two things:
- Videos of iPod weddings gone horribly wrong.
- A lot of Professional DJ’s trying to convince you to spend money you don’t have – on them.
We’re here to say that iPod weddings typically are less fun than a professionally-DJ’d event – but up until now there hasn’t been something like our planning guide. Finally, there’s a middle ground – a way you can get the best of both worlds – the assurance that the music that your big day will be jam packed full of fun dancing and great music – while also saving serious money.
